  1. ***The Telegraph reports:***

[Sir Keir Starmer](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/keir-starmer/) is set to press Joe Biden to approve Ukrainian [use of Storm Shadow missiles on Russian soil](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/09/16/we-must-give-ukraine-the-tools-to-strike-back-and-fast/) at a New York summit.

The Prime Minister has suggested he will press the [US president to drop his veto](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/us/politics/2024/09/24/joe-biden-heralded-his-foreign-policy-legacy-ukraine-israel/) when the pair meet at the UN General Assembly.

But he insisted that long-range strikes were not the only key to a [Ukrainian victory](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/russia-ukraine-war/) as the White House resists pressure to change policy.

    # ‘We will have discussions’

Sir Keir was speaking aboard the government plane en route to the UN General Assembly, where help for Ukraine was set to dominate discussions.

Volodymyr Zelensky, the Ukrainian president, is expected to use the occasion to lay out Kyiv’s “[plan for victory](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2024/09/23/what-zelensky-really-wants-from-his-plan-for-victory/)” to key Western allies.

Sir Keir was asked whether he would authorise the use of Storm Shadow, which at present can only be deployed within Ukraine, on Russian soil.

He said: “We will have discussions about a whole range of issues, and we will listen carefully to what President Zelensky’s got to say.

“I don’t think [the] victory plan will be about a sole issue like long-range missiles, it will be about a strategic, overarching route for Ukraine to find a way through this and succeed against Russian aggression.”

  2. Can someone enlighten me.. If the Stormshadow is manufactured in the UK, assembled in the UK, and shipped to Ukraine from the UK, why the fuck are they asking yanks for permission?

Also curious what would happen if they just launched them anyways. Is the U.S. really going to abandon their investment this late in the game? I don’t imagine they would. I mean hell, they’re still sending shipments to Israel, regardless of Israel not listening to a god damn thing they have to say 😂

Edit – From my reading I see France is also heavily involved in production. Still can’t see why the U.S. has any say here.

  3. What the hell? It’s their tech, and I could have sworn Brits dropped this supposed ban on striking Russia with their weapons already. This has to be psyops at this point, at least partially

  4. Setting victory for Ukraine as a strategic goal would help and Zelensky is obviously trying to get our governments to do this. Ben Hodges has been right for years now. Set victory and a return to 1991 borders as the goal and then work to achieve it. I doubt that this will happen until Biden is gone. All this talk about Storm Shadows is just a demonstration of will from the UK for continued support to up the ante on Putin. Others need to agree to do it as a united group. I’m looking at you Mr Scholz.

Slava Ukraini and god save the corgis.

  5. I just love the hypocrisy of the Biden administration regarding Russian red lines and disallowing Ukraine to use US weapons deep inside Russia… because whilst they keep saying no… they simultaneously keep allowing Israel to use US weapons in all neighboring countries.

    WTF?

  6. This only serves to highlight one thing manufacturing certain defence capabilities must be in house. Wtf is the point in BAE if we need to get the US to put in components. What else can’t we use as we please is the question? Calls in some serious questions on F35.
