Thing is, many people (45-50%) are still officially part of the church due traditions (baptism at baby age, requirement for some jobs within church social work).
However, loads of these people are not religious at all, or believe in god – they are basically just on paper christians. Some people may believe in god, but are otherwise not religious.

Catholicism in Italy is a tradition, not a religion
I see lot’s of;
It’s not people don’t believe in “a God”,
They don’t like the the church and what the church says is the correct version.
But which one is correct? Would be handy if I got a manual that isn’t written by ancient people. Straight from the source. Their isn’t any? Put me down as a “non believer” then.

Doesn’t really matter. These days, capitalism is in many aspects working like a/as a religion run by an orthodoxy named economic “science”. And the vast majority are true believers.

Assessing religiosity isn’t always straight forward.
