I wonder if is going to be a friendly game of exchanging threats. My chief worry is Trump making false promises in exchange for basically not being labelled a traitor afterwards, then a stab in the back after election. Zelensky may have throw the dice here

Once Zelensky assures him Chevron will have the right of first refusal to drill the humongous oil and gas reserves located in the regions that Russia is trying to annex, maybe Trump will listen.
Pennsylvania has 800,000 Poles, who are traditionally quite conservative, so I typically vote rep.
They must be “very happy” that if Trump were to win, the Russians would be on the Polish border in two months.
If only 10-20% of the voters don’t go to vote, or vote somewhere else, it could be a 1-2% shift in the vote -> and that’s very important there, because the vote is “lost” in PA.

Trump wants to win this election and he knows that the establishment supports the Ukraine war continuing, if he manages to somehow make it look like he’s not going to stop supporting Ukraines war effort he might get more support from this pro-war establishment. On the other hand the anti-war (call them pro-Russia if you preffer it) electorate is already behind Trump as they know he’s obviously less compromised with this cause than Harris.
But this are just theories, maybe he’s just trying to avoid that another Ukraine sympathizer tries to murder him.

Trump accepted the meeting with the hopes he will get detauls about the peace plan to relay them to Putin. There is no other reason, since he showed so much disdain to Zelensky in the past days. That, until his Russian handlers asked him to meet him.
