Hospital Food

Why is hospital food such a huge problem? It is not just one city, or one particular hospital. Food with zero nutrition, watery or from a can/frozen and then cooked. One warm meal a day. Breakfast and dinner consists of bread (again, low on nutrients) and a slice of cheese or ham.

This is not even a cultural difference. Food like this should not be served to patients that desperately need great nutrition and quality.

Does anyone have answers?

Posting a few pictures from my recent hospital stays as a reference.

  1. One warm meal is fairly typical for most people and the hospital is trying to cater to everyone while providing good macros. It’s not a fancy restaurant.

  2. I spent a lot of time in multiple hospitals the last 3 years. Food was in all but one Hospital very, very good. Like decent Restaurant level good. Turned out they all use the same amazing caterer…
One was horrible. Food in the rehab also was horrible.
