I know it’s difficult, but just admit it was all a failure and you’ve been fooled by the same sort of populist clown that a lot of other countries are now allowing into their politics. In fact, in most countries (like mine) they’re even Russia backed. We all feel you and it’s a bloody shame.
Step over your pride, and get back into the EU. Economically and geopolitically it’s just the right and most rational thing to do for your citizens. Especially longer term.

I sincerely doubt it. The EU isn’t significantly worse off due to Brexit.
As an actual EU citizen, respectfully UK, get in the back of the line. Make sure you meet the requirements. Switch to the Euro, drive on the proper side of the road. And stop begging for crazy exceptions. You stopped being a meaningful empire long ago
Brits would probably accept closer economic alignment, but anything that sees a return of freedom of movement, even for under 30s, would be very unpopular here. We have nothing to gain from it and it will once again reduce British citizens economic bargaining power. Despite what the media is saying the British people aren’t desperate to return, yes there are some issues with the EU that could be fixed, but generally our economy is doing fine and outperforming many in the EU.
Let’s see how much of an overhaul actually happens. EU wants youth mobility and UK wants better trade access. If both sides get what they want then there is a discussion to be had, but all I see is EU asking for Youth mobility, but what is it offering in return?
It won’t happen because the current EU demands are ridiculous and very unpopular here.
Unlimited freedom of movement for people aged 18-30.
We saw after Brexit we had 4x more EU citizens in the UK than the UK had in the EU. UK residents in the EU were mainly pensioners in France and Spain. EU has more youth unemployment than the UK.
Then there’s Erasmus with EU students paying the same as Brits, including free university in Scotland. Brits are already competing with lots of foreign students for placements & the universities in the UK want to raise tuition as they don’t get enough from the current British students.
More competition for young Brits in both education and the workforce while causing more financial distress on universities and wage stagnation on entry level jobs.
We are really living in a new age of xenophobia. I am really stunned that even the new “left wing” government of the UK seems to be hell-bent on keeping young EU nationals outside. My mind is blown by this. As a German I would never object against a young UK citizen coming over for a year to live in Germany.

I don’t know why he even went. His stated position that the youth mobility scheme can be discussed as part of a wider discussion that includes things the UK want is the correct one. But the EU have already rejected that position and are demanding the deal be done first. That kind of intransigence is antithetical to negotiations. Reducing your demands while still offering nothing in return isn’t negotiating.
He’s wasting his, and by extension our, time.
