Rachel Reeves heckled by protester during Labour conference speech

The British chancellor was interrupted by a man protesting against arms sales to Israel as she gave a speech at the Labour conference in Liverpool.

TV footage showed the protester being removed from the conference hall by security after shouting: ‘We are still selling arms to Israel. I thought we were voting for change, Rachel.’ Reeves resumed her speech after a short pause and received a standing ovation from Labour delegates. The UK government announced this month it was suspending 30 of its 350 arms export licences to Israel because of a risk such equipment might be used to commit serious violations of international humanitarian law

  1. Just a thought, aren't those security people committing assault. What authority do they have to physically manhandle him. He is not armed, he has made no threats of violence. Even Tesco security won't grab shoplifters.

  2. The protester was highlighting the appalling events being perpetrated in Gaza, but Rachel Reeves shows no empathy at all with the people of Gaza, and but comes away with a comment that shows Labour are no longer interested in the morality of governing, but content that they are governing, for their own benefit.

  3. Something just doesn't add up here. Labour want to earn more from inheritance tax, but at the same time, they want house prices and rents to fall? Surely, higher house sale prices, and higher rental earnings for landlords will equate ro more heritance tax and more income tax paid by landlords? 🤔
