I bought this magazine enough to actually get it moving.
One motor went faster than the other and it went in a circle. I couldn’t do anything.
That was the end of that.
Yeap, never finished it either, went to uni instead. Shame really, think it might have been good if I had finished it

Wow, 96 issues total
I can’t see what it is but I also had magazines that went on forever. Animals of farthing wood. And some classical music thing with trolls
I can still smell it. I think it was the rubber wheels. And it had a dingus on the bottom to follow lines.
I still have the completed version of this with the F1 style body kit they provided at the end. God knows how much I cost my parents collecting that thing, but it was great fun as a kid.
Is that one of these first issue 99p, but then all the others are a tenner and it would be cheaper to buy a robot because getting the mag every 2 weeks eventually costs £2000?
Wow!! I actually completed this build back in the day, feel sorry for my broke mum who had to fork out every week but wow what a memory. I remember it would follow a drawn line. Still not sure the point of it all but I guess I learned to build at a young age.
OP, now you have to complete it and feed back to us you know!
Sweet shoes yo!
OH SHIT! wow. This is cool, my brother had one of these he built as a teenager, early 2000’s. It was all blue from memory.
Neat find and a nice memory of my brother, thanks OP.
Oh my gosh I remember this! Collected it for so, so long. Got it moving around but definitely didn’t finish it as it just never seemed to end.
Ahaha oh my god yes! Got to the issue where you had to program it to follow a line but really think I did something wrong somewhere and the robot just didn’t work, was a thing me and my dad would build
Holy shit I remember building (most of) one of these! It was….fine? And expensive, really really expensive
i remember this robot and the tv adverts for the magazine
Holy shit, I always wanted to finish this. I think I got as far as the wheels and the motors, didn’t realise they actually kept selling the magazine
I’ll take the shoes and mini disc player lol
Thats brought back memories of building it with my grandad.
Oh wow! I still have mine in the loft. I persevered to the very end, but then the publisher were shit and didn’t send the last couple of issues I think
Is there a battered copy of Razzle in the bottom of the box?
Jesus this has kicked me right in the gonads of nostalgia. We got it to a point where it would try and follow a line but it was fiddly
My brother had this, it was a cute robot but I think he got more out of building of it than the actual robot.
This thing went through so many batteries! Hardly ever worked….
£381.04 to buy all 96 issues and the first being £1.99, and £3.99 thereafter.
Damn I remember the real robots magazines! There is a blast from the past! That also reminds me of the BBC series techno games where people built robots for Olympic style events!
I can remember the Real Robots mag was getting it every week then missed a week but still collected it while trying to get the one I missed on back issue. It’s never worked out lol. Think it’s great when one of the issues gives you some springs lol
Wow I built that when I was a kid!!!
I had one of these when i was a lad.
Me and my friend did it. Long story short we hand it for months spent hundreds of pounds and then the robot is wrong and the next part doesnt fit so you can’t continue.
It would be great if [the website](https://realrobots.co.uk/index-normal.html) sold full kits
