The actor John Simm has discovered that his late dad, Ronald, is not his biological father.
The [Life on Mars and Doctor Who actor](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/0/john-simm-interview-contemplated-faking-heart-attack-escape/), 54, delved into his ancestry [alongside Philip Glenister](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/tv/2024/06/29/robert-glenister-interview-night-caller-channel-5/), 44, his close friend and former colleague, in ITV’s DNA Journey with Ancestry and found “astonishing” results.
“It spun my world, and everything I thought I knew wasn’t real,” the actor said following the revelation.
In the first episode of the show’s fifth series, Simm is seen taking a [DNA test](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/family/life/trace-family-tree-digging-past-part-therapy-part-thriller/) that reveals Ronald Simm, his late musician father, is not biologically related to him.
