Donald Trump announces meeting with Ukraine’s president Zelenskyy | DW News

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy faces the toughest talks of his trip to the United States today, as he meets with the Republican party’s presidential candidate, Donald Trump. Trump agreed to meet Zelenskyy, while declaring he believed the US was paying too much to back Ukraine’s campaign against Russia. On Thursday, Zelenskyy sat down at the White House with the current president, who announced an $8 billion dollar aid package for Kyiv. He also secured a commitment of unwavering support from the Democratic presidential candidate Kamala Harris. Zelenskyy has been busy trying to secure bipartisan backing for his defense efforts ahead of the US elections. Speaking with Harris, he made the case for ongoing funding and weapons.

  2. If we look at the kind of military aid the US has given so far, whether intentionally or unwittingly,it has only served to perpetuate the war, not to win it; so, what is the strategy of this administration?

Big shame to all the people who don't know where this war is all about, but still criticising Zelensky and his country….This war is about the freedom of our western world, the consequences, if we don't do anything about it will be severe for Europe and America. If money is more important for you, you are i.m.o. a worthless person !

  4. Zelenski's victory plan is, the United States and Nato enter the war. Z might rope them in or trick them in somehow, through a NATO attack/defense response. Z needs to stop being funded and supported for his war simply for this.

  18. I think Trump would make a bad president.. but recognize he has at least had the foresight and courage to meet Zelenski face-to-face, it cannot have been easy for him. Ukraine need to admit the Berkut was wrong but Russia needs to admit it illegally contributed to arming separatists in another sovereign country. Hopefully a just peace can be found.

    I’m sure I’m Donald Trump fashion Zelenskyy was given an out to save face . Always give your opponent an out and then a warning that it could of went another way so they owe you

  33. Biden refuse to give Ukraine what they need, Biden send only small amounts of weapons with big delays to give Russia a chance to evolve and adapt. Biden/harris have too much fear, we need a bold president like Trump that will confront Putin without fear.

  39. All Trump wanted to talk about was "Impeachment hoaxes", rather than discussing how he would assist in helping the war effort in Ukraine… 🤔
    (Although we already know, that he will just hand them over to Russia… 🙄)
