  1. ive never met an irish who can go a day without whinging about some generational trauma bs caused by the brits… such a downer

I think I need cooler irish mates

  2. Ireland is very similar to the UK. They are similar culturally.

They just hate us because they see themselves in us.

Same with Scots who hate being called British. Just in denial about the fact we are more like the Barrys than we care to admit.

  3. OOP is not Irish, OOP is clearly American. Actual Irish people would not worry about being ā€œtoo rudeā€.

  4. Is there a word for this sort of behaviour? Going online to whine about some (probably made up) slight whilst emphasising what a nice- but very much victimised- person they are. It seems sort of related to humble-bragging.Ā

“Am I overreacting to the arrogant genocidal British? I mean I don’t mean to be rude. What do you all think about the arrogant genocidal British? Should I mention it?”

  5. Person’s doing it on purpose to fuck with them, just feign ignorance until he blows up then gaslight them into thinking they’re overreacting, proper friendly banter

  6. Want the Irish genocide just Westlife getting beaten up in the street after trying to steel a washing machine from No 21’s garden?

  7. I have done worse. I accidently called a Bosnian girl a Serbian, she didn’t take it well

  8. Honestly. If they really cared about being Irish, they would speak irish. There is more difference between a galician and a murciano than an irish and a british. We could call them great britain and little britain and it would be just the same

  9. Me too would be offended if someone callef me British. Fuck, even British should be offended if called British.

  10. aren’t the islands called “British Islands” and wouldn’t that make every Irish a Brit?

  11. As someone said in the replies, and I’d say it’s the same for most. If someone doesn’t know the difference between two different countries, I’d just assume they were a bit thick. If I was in a group with someone who thought Portugal and Spain were the same country, I’d think the same.

  12. From our continental european view – Ireland and UK a damn similar. easy to mix up the two.

  13. I feel it’s not honestly
Like, I’m bothered when people mix Europe and EU, but unlike Ireland, there arenā€™t any dark events that caused this difference
And if the person is just bothered without their friendship being affected, they’re way more chill than most people would be
