  1. Winter impacts both sides – and Russia suffered heavily last winter. Ukraine is likely to use the winter stalemate/slowdown to rearm, plan and solidify their positions; Russia will recruit and train new conscripts (cannon fodder), pre-position stockpiles and dig-in to hold positions. Air superiority using F-16s, long range missiles and UAVs will likely take on a new role in the winter.
