  1. Less than 1 billion a year but it’s an industry climate scientists don’t seem to agree with and think it may do more harm than good or at least believe there are better ways to spend the moneys

The “Government of vibes” is really starting to stick in my mind when I read a lot of these decisions and choices.

  2. It’s not an established technology. It’s ‘I really, really want this to work ‘ stuff.

But, even conceptually, how do you keep a gas underground? Supposedly in ex-oil fields.

How do you capture the CO2 in the first place? It is possible, if you expend enormous amounts of energy.

Face the fact that we must stop oil and gas. We’re fucked anyway, but slightly less if no new drilling occurs.

  3. Winter fuel payment: can’t afford it, too expensive.

Fossil fuel industry scam: sure why not? it’s not like we have anything better to do with the money…

  4. This sounds like great news! As someone who deeply cares about the envirome-…

… I mean, grrr winter fuel payment grrrrrrr

  5. This is very positive news, but as always in the UK, people who have no idea what they’re talking about are trying to drive the train off the tracks.

Finally, after years of handouts to hospitality and retail people who provide shit jobs, we’re getting real investment in technology that we (and the rest of the world) need that can provide decent jobs. People who have decent jobs spend money in other parts of the economy.

Carbon capture technology is relevant to numerous industries. I have no idea why idiots are whinging that it will prolong the use of fossil fuels; the bottom line that that we need to reduce CO2 in the atmosphere.

  6. I would personally start funding projects that would limit the damage that climate change would cause to the UK instead of this.

  7. Great they found another way to funnel tax payers money to the fossil fuel companys. How about spending that money on eliminating fossil fuels altogether so we dont need to capture it. Also carbon capture is totally unproven technology. You have to wonder who got  bribed what from the fossil fuel companies to come up with this waste our money.
