Hi. I’m trying to locate all the old sirens that used to top lots of buildings. They were under the auspices of the Civil Defence Corp (a follow on from the ARP wardens of WW2) but repurposed to warn us of impending nuclear attack. The famous 3 min warning. Did you have any in your area? Let me know.

There were, maybe still are, a bunch of those around the State Hospital at Carstairs.
Nah, they didn’t care about us
There used to be one in Aberdeen across the road from the Gordon barracks
There used to be one at New Park School in StAndrews but that is gone now.
Our fire brigade were called out upon hearing the siren, just like that one.
Then they were issued with pagers.
The main UK air attack warning system was stood down in the 90s. It was controlled from a WB1400 carrier control point (which I was trained to use). https://www.subbrit.org.uk/features/cold-war-early-warning-system/
Wasn’t it a 4 minute warning, à la that Mark from Take That song?
There was one outside my local police station in Stenhousemuir, atop a wooden pole IIRC
