200lbs lost in 355 days – lost 100% naturally through diet and intense exercise. [OC]

Posted this a while back but it was removed since i didnt post on the correct day, so i am reposting.

I am 29 years old. I recently lost 200lbs in 355 days naturally through intense diet and exercise. No medication or surgery was used whatsoever throughout the weight loss.

My starting weight was 375lbs on 8/1/23
I reached my goal weight of 174.8 7/16/24

The blue line in the graph is my personal weight entries
The orange line is my overall data trend
The green line is my original planned pace for weight loss

I realize i lost the weight at a rate that isnt considered healthy. I personally recommend to anyone trying to lose weight to have more patience than i did. However i am proud and want to use my journey as an example of what can be done when you dont allow anything to get in your way or stop you.

If you want to see a before and after pic theres some on my profile.

  1. Source- my personal weight loss entries
Tool- my weight interactive graph software

  2. Interested how you found the motivation to get this done, this is super impressive! I’m trying to lose some weight myself (not nearly as much, about 20-30 pounds down from 200) and really struggling with commiting to dieting and exercising. What gave you the push to start to do this?

  3. Damn, what kind of calorie deficit are you able to lose almost 1lb a day sustained that long? I’d think that this is more restrictive than most drs would recommend.

  4. I would absolutely do my axis like that if I had managed to do what you have been able to. You’ve smashed it. Great work!

  5. First, congratulations! I went through a similar weight loss journey in my late teens dropping from 309 to 178 in about a year.

Similar story where I was eating like 1200 calories a day. Looking back, I probably would have done it slower if I had known more but all worked out!

I’m 33 now. Are you considering any kind of cosmetic surgery for skin? I had a tummy tuck at 19 which sucked to recover from but turned out great. I still have a lot of loose skin on my chest but doesn’t bother me enough to get the surgery right now.

  6. Curiously, what’s your plan now that you’re at your goal weight?

I’m about your size, so I know that 1200 calories a day with triathalon-level training will absolutely continue the weight loss. Hell, you might keep losing weight on ~3000 calories a day depending on your training regimen.

  7. I think you’re safe to remove the green dashed line. Add a label for the red line, and replot in a more traditional aspect ratio.

Amazing job on the actual weight loss though.

  8. The speed and consistency are hella impressive! Congrats! I bet you feel amazing now

  9. Absolutely incredible, congrats!

I want to say though, the way in which you’ve accomplished this gives some reason for worry, so I want to leave some advice here as well.

This must have taken an incredible amount of willpower to accomplish. A small word of warning: willpower never lasts forever and one day it will give out. This is why the vast majority of people in your position end up putting the weight back on. They rely on willpower to lose the weight and never find a sustainable lifestyle afterwards.

Exercise does not have to be intense to be useful. In this journey, you report intense exercise. That’s great and amazing work. Now stop. Take it easy and make sure you enjoy (or at least don’t mind) the exercise you do and the intensity in which you do it. Otherwise, you will not keep it up. I promise. Unless you aspire to be an elite athlete, you need to relearn your relationship to exercise. This is no longer a sprint. It is a lifelong journey.

Do research on the effect of whole foods on eating habits compared to hyper-palatable, ultra-processed food. In theory, on paper, in a lab, it is possible to control weight through caloric restriction alone. However, for real people living real lives in the real world, this is not a sustainable solution. What we eat governs how much we eat.

If you’ve already heard all this, or if you’re receiving professional guidance, or if for any reason you believe this advice doesn’t apply to you, please ignore all I’ve said and keep on kicking ass. Congrats again.

  10. If people are motivated to follow this (congrats btw) it’s worth remembering that the faster you lose weight the more likely you are to gain it back. Ideally you want to hit around 1-2lbs a week

  11. Careful. However much of what you lost that comes back will be easily 50x harder to lose in 5 years.
