My husband says I won’t try the local cuisine, so I found the perfect middle ground….

Found in a convenience shop in Kyoto, was pretty fucking good!

  1. The blending of American and Japanese cuisine comes to casualUK, we are truly an international sub. 😀

  2. Asia absolutely adores spam – so much so that it’s basically local food now. I guess it’s influenced by WW2 rations, like Korean army base stew (budae jjigae)

That said – why the hell won’t you try local Japanese food? It’s amazing and there’s loads of Japan-westernised dishes that might suit your palate

No one does omelettes better than the Japanese. Hamburger patty with a side of rice? Sure, why not? Their cakes? As fluffy and light as clouds. Katsu sando? Breaded pork/chicken sandwich, yes please

  3. Spam is super popular in East and Southeast Asia. It’s one of those things that seems old-fashioned in the West but is happily alive and thriving over here.
