  1. Is it a church that has been changed into a mosque, or was it originally built as a mosque but in the Gothic style?

  2. This is a Christian church that was taken over and put flags of the invader inside* Fixed it for you

  3. To all the “that’s not a mosque, but a desecrated church” idiots, this used to be a *catholic* cathedral. On an island that was at the time mostly orthodox.

In other words: a church built by foreign invaders. Then other foreign invaders came and took it over.

Had the people who had this cathedral built not plundered the Byzantine Empire, there would probably have been way fewer churches converted to mosques overall.

  4. How to build a mosque 101:
    Step 1. Conquer land
Step 2. Find a gothic church
    Step 3. Build a minaret
    Congratulations. Mission completed

  5. What a beautiful view from the ghost city of Famagusta brought to you by TurkeyTM
