Vice-President [Kamala Harris](https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/kamala-harris), announced a plan to provide long-term, at-home care services through Medicare, the public health insurance program for Americans older than 65.
If approved, the program would represent a major expansion of Medicare, which currently only covers at-home care under narrow circumstances. Harris made the announcement on ABC’s The View, a day-time talkshow popular with older women.
As an old person, this would be quite the gift.
But how will residential care facilities owners force the elderly to sell their houses due to exorbitant costs, thus robbing the next generation of any inheritance and freeing up the real estate market?
This is great news for an aging population. Just have to find caregivers and pay them well.
We did home hospice through Medicare for my Mother’s final weeks. The help provided was nothing short of angelic and allowed for a peaceful transition. May we all get to die with dignity.
Yeah but who’s gonna pay for it?!! /s
I wouldn’t believe any promise made by Harris. We need serious representatives not self-serving puppets of the global Marxists.
She’ll say anything…and never what’s really needed
She flips flop. First she said Medicare for everyone and now changes it to this. 60 minuets interview called her out on it.
Terrific policy idea. This type of service is largely covered under Medicaid MLTSS and is very difficult to get. Normally have to spend down your assets until you meet the financial requirements to be eligible for Medicaid/LTSS.
Yes! Vote Harris/Walz they care about the middle class. 💙💙🇺🇸🇺🇸
Sounds expensive. The article says this will be paid by Medicare negotiating with big Pharma. On the surface this seems like a win-win.
I’ll believe it when my student loan debt is canceled as per the previous campaign promise.
