Ukraine could be facing “toughest winter” since Russian invasion began: NATO

July 2024 was the deadliest month for civilians in Ukraine since October 2022, the United Nations (UN) High Commissioner for Human Rights said on Tuesday.

Speaking in front of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, Volker Turk added that his office has recorded “45 per cent more civilian casualties than in the previous three-month period,” mostly due to Russia’s large-scale coordinated attack on July 8.

In Brussels, NATO Secretary-General Mark Rutte said that the military alliance “must and will do more” to help Ukraine, and that Ukraine could be “facing its toughest winter” since Russia’s invasion began.

Meanwhile, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said European leaders needed to change the approach towards Ukraine because the current strategy “does not work,” adding that dialogue and a ceasefire were needed to save lives. “We are convinced that you cannot win that war on the battlefield. Simply you cannot, that’s our opinion,” Orban said.

  1. You’ve been saying Ukraine was winning, Russia ran out of ammunition and Putin has cancer for 2 years. So happened? Where were your crocodile tears when Donbass has been shelled for 11 years?

  2. The military industrial complex wants endless wars because it's profitable just like the Israeli war which get all their weapons from the U.S war machine.

  3. If Trump wins in November he will stop all support to Ukraine. Trump is terrified of Putin and war. Trump will give up anything for peace. Ukraine is the most tenacious, skilled and capable ally we have ever had. Their bravery is un-matched. I hope we never let them down.
