Russian kamikaze drone attacks on Ukraine reach unmatched levels

Ukraine is suffering more air attacks from Russian kamikaze drones than ever before – with fears that Iranian support could see thousands more provided to Moscow.

September saw 1,300 drones used against Ukraine, an increase of 550 since August and more than any other month since the invasion in February 2022.

The feared Iranian Shahed-136 is one of Russia’s most preferred drones, and its evolution has seen it use 4G connectivity and black anti-radar technology to deceive Ukrainian air defences.

  1. Drone warfare is concerning for the maintenance of the current geopolitical climate because it can enable countries with somewhat limited military technology but expansive industry and low wages to compete with more technologically advanced militaries in long range strike capability

  2. 1:11 the 2×2 lego brick confused my sense of scale for a moment! It must be acknowledged that 'air force' has miniaturised – we need to repeat the air-defence lessons of the past in miniature. I'm not sure tiny balloon barrages are right, but fast-flying interceptor or long-loitering drones armed with tiny AAMs might be? Either that or stop demanding Ukraine act only in defence, only within its borders?

  3. So charged with writing a report on Russia's overwhelming Drone advantage over Ukraine, the reporter chose to use the first 70 secs repeating a 3 day old story about a single drone.
The "badly damaged a hospital" – come on we all know Kiev can't reference hospitals honestly.
