Idiotic Dishwasher Question

Just moved into a flat with a dishwasher and trying to make use of it. I've topped up the salts and bought tablets and Rinse Aid, ran a dishwasher clean, plus downloaded the instruction manual, but I'm still struggling to find exactly where the Rinse Aid goes🤣 It's an Indesit Dif 04 and this is what I'm working with in the picture. Can anyone please tell me where the Rinse Aid would go on this? Currently getting the silent treatment from the gf who couldn't work it out either (I'm sure this will somehow be my fault as usual) so I'm hoping someone on here can help with this ridiculous predicament I'm currently in. Thanks in advance

  1. The circle thing on the right of the picture unscrews. Turn it to the left, lift it up and pull it out, fill rinse aid to the top and screw it back in.

The little thing above it that looks like a sun is a viewing glass for the rinse aid level. It’s got a float inside that rises to the top and fills the viewing hole with a solid colour. If you can’t see the float anymore, it’s empty and needs refilling.

The detergent or tablet goes in the larger main bit on the left. The smaller middle section is so you can add a bit more detergent if you use a cycle with a pre-wash. It was mainly for when everyone used loose powders, but most people use tablets now so you can ignore it and it still works fine.

    Hope that helps 👍

  2. BTW I would recommend removing the spray-arms and cleaning them out if you are getting poor cleaning. I was on the verge of replacing when I removed the spray arms and found fairly significant bits of broken wine-glass that was obviously blocking the water jets.

  3. Have you also taken the filter out (usually a big thing in the bottom of the compartment) and given that a good clean?

  4. Rinse aid symbol looks like sunshine. Salt looks like an S being recycled. Rinse aid goes in the circular twisty thing on the right. Tip the dishwasher up slightly when you add it in so it goes down faster. And don’t tip too quick or it’ll squirt out everywhere. Nobody’s designed good rinse aid bottles yet.

  5. Don’t forget there’ll be a place to put salt in too – ours in the bottom of the machine.

  6. I’m glad you’ve found the answer – but it wasn’t an idiotic question; you needed to know how to do something, asked, and got an answer. Sorted!

  7. Life hack: Just throw the tablet in the dishwasher. It works fine without putting it in the little compartment thingy

  8. Erm don’t shoot me guys but where does the salt go if the round part is rinse aid
