A Russian citizen, using profanity, is confused by Ukrainians attacking a Russian base in Krasnodar Krai. Drones and ammo stored there for strikes on Ukraine explode, causing the crown molding in his apartment to fall from the walls and ceiling. He wants to know why Ukraine would cause that to happen

  1. Stupid Ukrainians, don’t they know the war is only to be fought in Ukraine! Have they no decency?

  2. Maybe this can be understood as this guy, and many more Russians, actually believe that russia is rescuing oppressed Russians and Ukrainians from the “nazi regime”?
It’s nearly impossible for me as a Westerner to understand how someone can be so stupid, but I guess this is an example of russki mir, or Ãœbermensch if it was 1939.

  3. That’s pretty normal reaction. They are in local information bubbles, which are meticulously created over the years. Russian propaganda makes myriads of channels with an illusion of “opposition”, due to allowance to criticise government, russki army and even Putin to a different degree. While main narrative is the same, each listener has it’s own “independent” source, as they feed dissatisfactions close to that particular follower. This let’s them to have discussions and imaginary difference in opinions, while still being one the same hook – war is with “western puppeteered ukrops”.
