Saturday Chatterday (12 Oct 24)

It’s Saturday!

A great day for rabbiting on about things, and for putting your feet up. Unless you’ve got work of course, in which case just put your feet up later on.

Come on in, have a chat, and let us know – what’s on for your day?

  1. Nice easy day, might watch hocus pocus and we finish the Lego build of it and then start of the haunted mansion

  2. I got a game called Unpacking for my switch so will be playing that, need to cut out holes in the worktop for the sink and hob, do some exercise and then have a little nap before my nightshift tonight. Also planning on making a slow cooker beef stew, hoping I can actually eat it as early pregnancy has made me starving hungry but ruined my ability to eat things.

  3. Been awake since 6am thanks to my sinuses having a party and inviting the whole town. No football today because fuck driving with this throbbing headache.

My better half is pregnant and waiting for her turn with this shit, so she won’t be happy with me given that she can’t take 95% of the remedies out there, especially my new best friend Sudafed.

Today’s plans are just a much needed walk and some reading – can’t complain.

  4. Doing everything in my power to try and fend off this looming plague that’s been trying to grab me for a few days. So instead of all the jobs I’d got planned I shall mostly be sitting.

  5. Universal Credit interview went OK, was just for providing photo ID documents. Meeting work coach on the 25th. Which is luckily an inset day for the school I do crossing patrol duty at. Have also applied for a job in the (same) school kitchen as it fits between the times I do patrol duty. If I have to work extra hours to satisfy UC, I want to work somewhere where I know most of the staff, have a general idea of how things work, and somewhere I know that I can still take time for my mental and physical health. I’m aiming to increase my hours slowly, to a level I know I can reasonably achieve. This job would take my hours up to over 20 a week (including youth project and crossing patrol). So many bloody hoops to jump through, just to justify what I’m already doing! I’m not after a ton of benefits, just help with the housing benefit equivalent. I want to work, but I have to take reasonable steps for my own health. A 37+ hour a week job would absolutely have me off sick within 6 weeks, but I’m considered too functional to be claiming health related benefits.

Off to work in a bit, thank you for listening to my whinge.

  6. Going to watch Dispatches From Elsewhere today, and the documentary The Institute. Seems weird enough to be right up my street.
