  1. How tf you eating dinner before 5pm? There’s no way you’re not hungry between that time and your bed time

  2. The Swedish one seems a little excessive, I think it should be more like the German one in my personal experience.

  3. Ekhm… I bet for many countries it isn’t dinner, but supper. Also: please use 24-hour clock. That’s Europe.

  4. I’d shave half an hour off the Portuguese dinner time. It’s more like 8:30-9:30 at best.

  5. I realize people are used to certain meal times, but I would hate for my evening to have to be interrupted by having dinner right in the middle of it. I like having all evening free to do what I want.

  6. As an Asian born and raised in the Netherlands, I feel more like a South European when it comes to diner time. Although I can understand people eating dinner early, people are getting hungry right after work.

  7. Wonder when all countries will advance to the 24 hours clock system…
    Same with the metric system..

  8. Portugal’s wrong. Should start from 8pm. Having dinner at 10pm is also considered pretty late.

  9. being a waiter in barcellona seemed excruciating. people sitting at the table waaay past midnight. fuck that

  10. For Spain you had to adjust the time. Our hours have an extra hour thanks to Uncle Paco trying to be friend with certain austrian with a funny and squared mustache so in our case we’re on the 20.30-21.30 lines.

  11. Dinner Time in the North East of England (and a lot of Northern England for that matter is 12:00-1:00

  12. That explains why my German friend is so annoying when we’re in Portugal at 19h and he starts to complain that he is hungry and we should make a reservation in the restaurant instead of just showing up in the place at 22h like true iberians

  13. And now you need to compare the time zone to the actual noon. And then calculate how late dinner actually is. Spain having the same time zone as Poland could explain why the Spanish seemingly eat such a late dinner.

  14. In France restaurants open at 7pm for dinner. But it’s true that at home we eat around 8ish.

  15. Dinner for me is lunch time so idk is that skewing the U.K. or does it mean evening meal I.e. tea?

I use dinner to mean the main meal of the day excluding breakfast so for me that’s lunch with a sandwich or toast for tea. My evening meal I would rather have at 16:30 or 17:00 but by the time I done with finishing work and getting the kids from school it’s often a bit later.

  16. As someone from Poland who had no chance to spend more time in Italy and Spain recently, I really miss the culture where you go out and everywhere is super busy outside, people drinking wine and laughing. It’s kinda different in Poland as most of it is happening indoors usually and not to that extent.

  17. Based on my personal experience Greece should be more like 9:00 pm to 10:00 pm / 21:00 to 22:00.
