Applying Verpflichtungserklärung for Parents

My parents will be visiting me next year and I would be applying for the Verpflichtungserklärung soon. My mother would be travelling alone first and my father would join us after 2 months. They both will leave back together after a month. My question is, do I need to apply for Verpflichtungserklärung for each one separately, or would one application cover both if I time it correctly. I read in the Auswärtiges Amt that the validity of the Verpflichtungserklärung is 6 months until the visa is issued.

  1. Interesting. My parents have visited me twice and I only gave them a signed letter addressed to the embassy, a copy of my ID, and a copy of my housing contract (to prove it’s enough to accommodate guests). It worked both times and would do that again next year. But they also just provided financial statements that’s why. But the letter was more like to say, they have a place to stay and that I will be covering their expenses when they arrive. The only items removed from their application were hotel and transfer bookings. As for the Verpflichtungserklärung, isn’t it valid for five years and can’t be revoked?
