Hurricane Milton makes landfall in Florida, US | BBC News

Hurricane Milton has made landfall in the US state of Florida.

More than two million homes and businesses are without power, and there have been “a number of deaths” reported on the Atlantic coast.

Milton was downgraded from a category five hurricane to category one, but is still wreaking havoc.

It comes two weeks after Hurricane Helene killed at least 225 people in Florida, Georgia, South Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina.

  1. Typhoon, that's all it is. All along the littoral of the South China Sea and elsewhere in the warmer climatic zones, untold millions have lived with and dealt with "weather events" just like this Florida experience since time immemorial, without the benefit of satellite-era forecasts, and without looking for someone to blame. As for root causes and controlling them, the eminently practical people at most attributed weather behavior to their deities or other supernatural entities, offered something by way of appeasing them, but apart from that were more preoccupied by the daily necessities that keep body and soul together. Scientific theories and conspiracy theories distract from the practical reality that we should adapt to anything we cannot control, and they merely generate the unnecessary mass anxiety you see nowadays.

    It seems there might be some confusion. In my opinion Hurricanes typically starts form Ras Dashen, located in the Simien Mountains of the Amhara region, is indeed the highest peak in Ethiopia, standing at 4,550 meters (14,930 feet) above sea level1. However, there hasn’t been any recent news about a hurricane in that area. Hurricanes typically form over warm ocean waters and are not common in mountainous regions like Ras Dashen.

    NASA has indeed studied and photographed the Ethiopian Highlands, including Ras Dashen, due to its significant geological and climatic features23. If you have any more details or another topic in mind, feel free to share!

  20. I just finished cleaning the yard with my workers. I didn't hire illegal immigrants because it is illegal to hire illegal immigrants. But some people never look at the law, their interests are above everything else. They can push a person who didn't win the party election to run for president and accuse the opponent of destroying democracy [🤦‍♀️] These people are either stupid or bad!
