I personally think this one (The Defence of Rorke’s Drift) is better than the one you have selected (Remnants of an Army) which was also by Lady Butler.
Not sure if this French or Spanish but I like it. El tres de mayo de 1808 en Madrid by Goya. Napoleonic troops executing Spanish rebels for their part in an uprising the day before, after napoleon moved the Spanish royal family out of Madrid for “safekeeping”.
This one isn’t really a painting but rather a panel in the Porto Terminal Train Station. It’s still a great picture depicting the Conquest of Ceuta, the first overseas territory conquered by Portugal from another state. From the early 1900s.
OP, you clearly have some kind of fetishism for military scenes. Also, in what concerns tastes, to each their own… But plenty of good examples in Portugal…
I rather like Peace Concluded by John Everett Millais. It’s not strictly a military painting, but it is of a family reunited at the end of war and that’s the hope I think everyone who goes or whose family goes to war must desire most.
« Prise de Luxembourg », the only famous painting on the topic of Luxembourg I know The place where they are is a huge business center now btw.

From Catalonia, I think that this is one of the best of the end of succession war of 1714 (yes, I know that represents a loss in a war, but we are weirdos, leave us alone)
