  1. That’ll soften his cough.

I fully expect the lunatic fringe to be up in arms over this crying “police state” and “freedom of speech”.

  2. Good, anyone who spreads this shite online should absolutely face consequences. Now do that fat pile of shite who spread around social media the lies that started the hassle in Celbridge.

  3. Doesn’t say it in the article but I’d be willing to bet a large amount of money that this claim was made by a far right nazi who claims ”Ireland is full!”

  4. That’s great, but we all know this is going to cost us. He will get free legal aid, then his punishment is likely to be a fine, which he won’t be able to pay cos he’s a ~~hate-filled good-for-nothing sponger who never works and lives off his elderly mother~~ man of limited means.

  5. Derek Blighe does it all the time….just throws a hand full of ***allegedlies*** in every post….

EDIT: Derek Blighe allegedly does it all the time ….

  6. Asking genuinely in case people assume worst, but is the grounds for this that he knowingly spread false information, or would spreading information he thought was true but was false also be covered by this?

I wonder if the carlow teacher debacle would be something this law would be applicable to?

  7. Another reason why I’m delighted that Deputy McEntee has the hate speech legislation going through the Seanad this week. Urgently needed.

  8. Lock him up and throw away the key! The amount of anguish and pain he has caused to an innocent person and their family. There is no excuse for this type of behaviour.

  9. Good to see, but why isn’t he named in the article? It seems upon arrest, whether the name and street they live on is published or not gets decided at random.

  10. This is something that would be vigilantes should be aware of, before they think about taking justice into their own hands
