To put it in perspective:
Almost 50 % more than before. Then over 1% of the population in active service.
To achieve a similar ratio, Germany would have to increase its number of soldiers fivefold.
The sheer number of soldiers is not decisive, but it shows that a state feels threatened here. They will hardly have the urge to conquer within the EU…
