Sinn Féin faces political pressure over claims it misled Oireachtas on senator’s resignation

  1. “No election until next year”…

Has to be called before the end of the week now with the opposition not even able to field candidates in places.

Mary Lou needs to be held accountable by SF for being totally asleep at the wheel. She should have been gone 6 months ago.

To know about these claims and still write a glowing reference is inexcusable.

  2. Pearse Doherty just finished an interview on Morning Ireland. He had tech issues and the line dropped twice but even with that he gave a very forceful and clear explanation of the issues. It was infinitely better than Mary Lou’s car crash interview a couple of days ago. Pearse reminded me of an experienced leader stepping in to fix a mess created by inexperienced junior staff.

The party has to change leadership immediately. If Mary Lou leads them into the election she will be destroyed and will bring the party down with her.

If she resigned this morning the party leadership could make sure Pearse is the only candidate coming out of the Oireachtas members. He could be in place by early next week and it looks like the election won’t be called until mid to late next week as the finance bill and other “urgent” legislation is still making its way through the process.

Yes posters and leaflets are probably printed with her image on them but they could be modified to have Pearse’s photo relatively quickly and reprinted. It will cost money for a rush print job and the disposal of old posters but they are the wealthiest political party in the country and as the election hasn’t been called they can do it now and still stay within election spend guidelines.

  3. Using “mental health” to deflect from doing something wrong should be called out. Its disgusting. There is enough stigma around mental health and people not being believed. Then Mary Lou had to give him a glowing reference to the world and not tell the public and Oireachtas for his mental health ?

  4. From the Indo:
“On September 27, the PSNI told the party a joint investigation was to be launched with social services, but no formal investigation followed because the “young person was content with the actions taken by the party”.

The young person was content with the actions taken by the party?

This sounds like “be content with these actions, or else….”
