It is really unsettling to see these politicians entertain hollow hopes and send men to die simply to buy time uselessly when nothing realistically can change to secure victory in this war.
We must remind the Ukrainians that military defeat is not the end of the world, even Imperial Japan and Nazi Germany rebuilt into prosperous countries after losing wars which were deemed existential at the time.
The war will naturally end once Ukraine surrenders and we should stop pretending a different outcome is possible or even desirable given what is at stake.
I’d say keep on hoping… keep on asking, keep on being positively annoying!
They need to be a peace first, just like the EU application and I don’t see a peace coming any time soon… be it good or a bad peace…
