The Duchess of Edinburgh Appears on Special Episode of CBeebies Bedtime Stories

The Duchess of Edinburgh appeared on a special episode of CBeebies Bedtime Stories on Thursday evening.

In light of World Sight Day, Sophiel read the book Specs For Rex by Yasmeen Ismail, a story about a little lion who does not want to wear his new glasses to school.

In the trailer for the show, the Duchess spoke on the significance of World Sight Day, saying it’s a ‘reminder to all of us to take care of our eyes, whether we need glasses or not.’

Sophie is the second member of the Royal Family to make an appearance on the children’s programme, following the Princess of Wales who read The Owl Who Was Afraid of the Dark by Jill Tomlinson in 2022.

  1. The Duchess is Patron of the Blind society because it’s very near to her heart. She gave birth to Louise early because of a ruptured placenta, both their lives were in danger at one stage. The traumatic birth damaged Louise eyesight and has both a baby and young child she’s has several operations to correct it. Sophie works very hard for the sight impaired charities .( and of course for ALL her other patronages too).

  2. Prince Edward and Prince William chose very intelligent, charming, talented, beautiful women full of class and poise to marry. I’m sure the Queen was very proud of them. They are a real asset to the Monarchy.

  3. Well done Sophie, you are doing an Amazing job working with the royal family ,and it hasn't gone unnoticed, your a credit to your husband and let me tell you our late queen Elizabeth would be immensely proud of you and all your family well done 🎉🎉🎉🎉

  4. Greatly admire Sophie, she has been a very strong for the family since the QEII passed. She has brought her immediate family through very dark days. She is a great lady, beautiful, gracious, intelligent, compassionate and shines like the star she is.

  5. People without connections are going to the opticians and the NHS and are not getting their cateracts treated. When it is too late and they are blind in one eye 👁️ the grown ups are suggesting that you should have come sooner and then the grown ups start the same game with the 2nd eye. 🤔
