  1. Recently watched a YouTube site called HeadShot which interviews ordinary Russian citizens in Russia about life and the war. One of the latest is about prices and it is most revealing. Lots of people not buying meat because they can't afford it. Prices rising fast and wages not rising at all! This is day to day evidence of the effects of Putin's mismanagement of the economy.

  2. Stop being a nuclear idiot. The real danger of nuclear was never in the production, even though that seems to be all everyone focuses on. It's in the waste as the waste is inevitable, just as dangerous as the production, and all our technological effort goes to improve that.

Being able to convert five tons of nuclear fuel to energy does nothing to change the fact that you then have to store five tonnes of extremely irradiated waste somewhere. Where will you store it without ignoring zoning laws? What about the next batch, and the batch after that, and the batch after that? Etc. etc. until the entire Earth is one giant radioactive landfill for the next 5000 years?

  3. Thank you for being a well-balanced human being.
It is much appreciated with all of the hair on fire type people on the Internet? Just refreshing not to have someone be so? Appreciate you always being matter-of-fact. Slava, Ukraine! Much love from Austin, Texas!

  4. MBS is doing us NO favors. If he floods the market, yes, it will devastate Russia but it will also fuck with US shale production which needs $60/barrel to be profitable. The upside, Russian wells will have to pour it on the ground because if they stop they will freeze/burst and they don't have the tech to get them up and running again. The US? Just stops until the price goes back up. MBS just wants both the Russian and US to go offline, if even for a while.

  5. Excuse me, sorry, but the headline of Russia’s economy entering free fall has been spun for.. years. How’s this any different?

I’m not trying to be stupid about this, that Russia will continue to grind itself to a halt but how would this actually change anything? Like I could very well see the sunken cost fallacy be employed and they’d keep the war going even while the Russian citizen is suffering.

  6. The US didn't want to face the consequences of Russian collapse. Russia has a lot of dangerous people and dangerous things and we didn't want a squabbling gaggle of warlords fighting over them as they carved up Russia's corpse, coming out in unpredictable and dangerous combinations that will only spread further chaos. But we didn't want Ukraine to lose, either. So we supported Ukraine, but not with so much power that they could force Russia to collapse. The Russians could have avoided collapse if they'd just gotten the hell out of Ukraine and ended the war. But they made their choice, and now the whole world will have to deal with the consequences of Russian collapse.

  7. Gas prices climbed before he invaded because he kept turning the gas on and off to Europe, it's all in the papers from early 2021. We had a load of energy companies go bust in the UK because wholesale gas prices were all over the place. This was in 2021. Btw, the whole planet had these problems with the cost of living, and we in the UK and Europe have a similar inflation rate to the US now. Europe told Putin not to invade and Putin said watch out that you gas supply doesn't get cut off. Then invaded Feb 2022.

  8. Excellent ! Ukraine's strategy is right: i's quite interesting to see that Putin gets finally cooked by his own energy trap. This is Karma!
Russians should understand that evacuate from Ukraine, ending the war and getting rid of Putin is the best solution for Russia. 🧐💯👍

  9. Europe shutting down the nuclear sites was silly, imo, but it is also silly that the US stopped building nuclear plants after 3 Mile Island.

  10. I wished the study used some other measure than the salary of Russian physicians. With a long history of socialist healthcare, their physicians never made the kind of money a physician does in the US. Their healthcare is also more mediocre than our own. I hope that study is correct. This war is a terrible waste & wrong to start with. Putin should withdraw in the interest of both sides.
