EU Dreams vs Russian Cash! Moldova Votes in Historic Referendum | Times Now World

Moldova’s historic EU membership referendum stands at a crossroads, with approximately 60% of voters supporting accession while facing a critical 33% turnout requirement for validity. President Maia Sandu champions the cause, framing EU membership as joining a “family of peace and security,” while ordinary citizens like Vasile share personal experiences of life in Europe, hoping to secure a better future for younger generations.

The referendum unfolds amid revealed Russian interference, with authorities uncovering evidence of Moscow-linked financial schemes aimed at swaying votes and suppressing turnout. Pro-Russian forces, including oligarch Ilan Shor, actively work to undermine the democratic process through voter demobilization tactics. As 2,221 polling stations operate across the nation, this vote represents a pivotal moment in Moldova’s struggle between Western integration and Russian influence.

  1. A few more years of Europe's strongest economies sliding into the sewer of financial degradation(Germany is now looking at the second year of economic failure by way of reducing GDP while France has international debt equal to 6% of it's GDP and rising every minute) should warn Maldovans the happy little European family is going broke at a rapid rate.
