U.K. stocks lower at close of trade; Investing.com United Kingdom 100 down 0.50% By Investing.com

Investing.com – U.K. stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the , and sectors led shares lower.

At the close in London, the fell 0.50%.

The best performers of the session on the were Fresnillo PLC (LON:), which rose 6.33% or 44.50 points to trade at 747.50 at the close. Meanwhile, DS Smith PLC (LON:) added 2.37% or 10.60 points to end at 457.60 and BP PLC (LON:) was up 1.31% or 5.25 points to 404.85 in late trade.

The worst performers of the session were Intertek Group PLC (LON:), which fell 3.85% or 197.00 points to trade at 4,918.00 at the close. Entain PLC (LON:) declined 2.78% or 20.20 points to end at 707.20 and EasyJet PLC (LON:) was down 2.50% or 13.00 points to 507.60.

Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the London Stock Exchange by 1181 to 603 and 679 ended unchanged.

Shares in Fresnillo PLC (LON:) rose to 52-week highs; up 6.33% or 44.50 to 747.50.

Gold Futures for December delivery was up 0.28% or 7.70 to $2,737.70 a troy ounce. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Crude oil for delivery in December rose 1.88% or 1.29 to hit $69.98 a barrel, while the December Brent oil contract rose 1.56% or 1.14 to trade at $74.20 a barrel.

GBP/USD was down 0.49% to 1.30, while EUR/GBP unchanged 0.10% to 0.83.

The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.43% at 103.75.
