menus and tapas in Spain featuring ‘the best red tuna in the world’

Balfegó has announced the return of its Gastronomic Journeys, considered the most important in Spain, which will take place until October 27. This event, focused on promoting bluefin tuna of which the company is a world leader in fishing and marketing, will feature the participation of nearly 1,000 restaurants this year. The key focus of this edition will be the promotion of traceability, a tool that Balfegó has been implementing for over a decade to ensure the quality of the product it offers to both restaurateurs and the general public.

During the Journeys, chefs and restaurateurs from all over Spain will offer innovative and exclusive dishes featuring bluefin tuna as the main ingredient. This edition marks a 16% increase in restaurant participation compared to the previous year, solidifying the event as a must-attend for gastronomy. The regions with the highest number of participating venues are Catalonia, Valencia, and Andalusia, although the Journeys extend to all regions of Spain.

Boosting traceability

The main focus of the Conference will be on traceability, a pioneering system introduced by Balfegó that allows consumers to know precise details about the tuna they are tasting, from the place of capture to quality certificates. Each piece of bluefin tuna has a QR code that customers can scan to access detailed information about the product. This tool reinforces the company’s commitment to sustainability and transparency.

In addition to promoting the use of traceability, Balfegó has prepared a series of incentives for both restaurateurs and customers participating in the Journeys. Restaurants with the highest number of QR code scans by their customers will be rewarded with prizes that include a kaitai at their premises or training at Tunateca, the company’s gastronomic space. Diners who use the traceability system will also have the opportunity to win various prizes, including gastronomic trips and immersive experiences with red tuna on the Tuna Tour.
