The consultative referendum on EU membership held on Sunday in Moldova was attended by 1.488.874 voters: 50,46 percent of them voted “Yes” to amending the Constitution to include the European vector, while 49,54 percent voted “No”. As for the presidential elections, no candidate managed to obtain a majority in the first round.

Therefore, according to the law, the two candidates who obtained the most votes in the first round will compete in the second round. This is the current head of state, Maya Sandu, who obtained 42,45 percent of the votes, and his opponent, the candidate supported by the Socialist Party (Psrm) Alexandr Stoianoglo, for which 25,98 percent of voters voted. According to current regulations, the second round of the presidential election will take place within two weeks of the first round, in this case on November 3.
