This summer’s drought has led to higher vegetable prices in Bulgaria, with peppers, pink tomatoes, and broccoli seeing noticeable price increases.
Despite the higher costs, many Bulgarians are still preparing traditional winter foods like pickles and sauerkraut. However, the demand for winter vegetables remains low in markets, such as in the Plovdiv village of Graf Ignatievo, partly due to warm weather and the convenience of purchasing ready-made products from major retail chains.
Producers are observing that people are increasingly opting for store-bought goods instead of preparing their own.
