Gotrel, who had been with the British crew since it entered the league in Season 2, revealed he reached out to Switzerland when he heard ‘on the grapevine’ the team was looking for new grinders. From there, conversations ‘moved quickly’ and Gotrel’s place in the refreshed line-up was confirmed.
Reflecting on his decision, Gotrel said he was keen to take a ‘more involved’ position within a team, adding that Emirates GBR’s established grinder partnership of Neil Hunter and Nick Hutton meant he ‘wasn’t doing that much racing’.
“The opportunity for me was just to go and race more and have more involvement in the team as one of the main grinders,” he said.
