Super Eagles goalkeeper, Adebayo Adeleye, has been adjudged the best player of Matchday 7 in the Cypriot Premier League for his outstanding performance between the sticks.

In a chat monitored on Enosis Neon Paralimniou FC’s official Facebook page, Adeleye was the man to beat in last weekend’s away fixture against Francis Uzoho’s Omonia FC, as Enosis secured the three maximum points.

Thieno Barry broke the deadlock in the 37th minute, scoring what turned out to be the only goal of the match, as Enosis picked up their second win of the season to move to 11th position on the log.

The club took to its Facebook account to shower encomium on their goalkeeper for his efforts while expressing confidence in the former Golden Eaglet star’s ability to help Enosis avoid relegation at the end of the season.
“Moments from our team goalkeeper who, with his dedication and amazing operations, inspires us to keep fighting. All together, step by step to become better and better. Our perseverance and passion are our strength; with a team effort, we will continue to improve with you at our side,” the statement reads.

The award now swells Adeleye’s POTW shield to three, raising speculation that he could be pried away from Enosis by Cypriot league moneybags next summer.

Adeleye joined Enosis Neon Paralimni on a free transfer after severing ties with Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem, following a six-year spell between the sticks. The 24-year-old made 139 appearances for Hapoel, with 54 clean sheets.

He made his competitive debut for Nigeria on a winning note after their hard-fought 3-2 win over Sierra Leone in the penultimate game of the 2023 AFCON qualifier.

Adeleye first received a Super Eagles call-up for a friendly game against Ecuador and came on as a substitute against Algeria’s second side during another friendly game.
