HUNTSVILLE, Ala. (WAFF) – Leaders at the U.S. Space and Rocket Center are celebrating the restoration of a piece of NASA history.
The Pathfinder Shuttle Orbiter has returned to Shuttle Park.
This was after crews spent years restoring parts to its former glory.
To celebrate, the space and rocket center hosted a Biergarten event under the shuttle stack.
Pathfinder sat outside the Center since 1988.
The CEO says she’s glad the spirit for space is strong in Huntsville.
“We are just such a part of the community and the fabric of this town and we are so excited that they can come out and celebrate with us and I always tell everyone when it comes to space exploration nobody celebrates like Huntsville,” Kimberly Robinson said.
Attendees also got a first look at the Space Exploration Wall of Honor.
The names of those who helped get us to the moon the first time – and those working to get us there again – are etched in an interactive kiosk.
