Moldova is set to vote ‘YES’ in a historic referendum on EU membership – as the diaspora vote helps to break 50% support, with 99% of polls counted. But Maia Sandu has called out Russia’s ‘unprecedented assault’ on Moldova, as the incumbent wins with only 42% support in presidential elections and will face a difficult second round in November.
Georgia will also hold Parliamentary elections on 26 October, as it decides whether to stick with its ‘Russian government’ – a day before Bulgarian elections that look unlikely to stop further political instability.
