I’m seeing a lot of people say that Iran is using flak here, but don’t AA shells dating back to the Cold War automatically explode after flying a certain distance? Could this be what we’re seeing?

I’ve played WW2 games with better air defense than this.
The fact that they are shooting flak, 1991 Iraq style, points to several possibilities, not mutually exclusive:
1. Their SAM sites went kaput in the first few minutes of the attack. Wait for MAXAR satellite images in the next 24 hours.
2. Israel attacked with ROCKS and other long range air-to-surface ballistic missiles that do not provide a good lock for the Iranian S-300.
3. Israel combined the attack with drones, either for ECM, suicide, or both, and the flak guns are shooting at the drones.

Is there any evidence of any hits against air targets? Seems like blind shooting at best.
