  1. How has starlink not been nationalized by the us govt for security purposes yet? Seriously it decides the outcome of battles to some degree now.

  2. He’s a foreign agent at this point. He needs to register as such. This has to be taken seriously since it significantly impacts American foreign policy and national security. Off-brand Tony Stark needs to get reined in hard.

  3. What really happened:

” Starlink is not available in Taiwan after negotiations reportedly fell apart over Taiwan’s requirement that a local entity have a majority share of any joint venture established.”

    [https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/15/taiwan-to-have-satellite-internet-service-as-protection-in-case-of-chinese-attack](https://www.theguardian.com/world/2024/oct/15/taiwan-to-have-satellite-internet-service-as-protection-in-case-of-chinese-attack)

    Musk wouldn’t go for that.

    Results:

“Taiwan is expected to have access to low earth orbit satellite internet service by the end of the month, a step the government says is crucial in case a Chinese attack cripples the island’s communications.

The forthcoming service is via a contract between Taiwan’s main telecoms company, Chunghwa, and a UK-European company, Eutelsat OneWeb, signed last year, and marks a new milestone in Taiwan’s efforts to address technological vulnerabilities, [particularly its internet access](https://english.cw.com.tw/article/article.action?id=3612#:~:text=With%20those%20satellites%20now%20in,representing%20an%20important%20strategic%20development.), after attempts to get access to Elon Musk’s Starlink service collapsed.”

  4. SpaceX response

    >The Wall Street Journal published yet another incredibly misleading story about [u/Starlink](https://x.com/Starlink) based upon completely unsubstantiated claims from unnamed sources.   As has been repeatedly confirmed by the Department of Defense, SpaceX has worked (and continues to work) in close partnership with the U.S. Government regarding Ukraine and denial of service to bad actors. The Wall Street Journal repeats long-ago debunked claims that Starlink ever turned off service for Ukrainian soldiers. Starlink’s contributions to the Ukrainian defense and the Ukrainian people are indisputable. Starlink has kept Ukrainians online and connected to the world throughout the conflict and Starlink has defended itself against major efforts to disrupt that connection, at great cost to the company.

Regarding Taiwan, as even the Taiwan government has confirmed, Starlink is not available there because Taiwan has not given us a license to operate, and regulators declined to remove a requirement that a foreign entity own 51% of Starlink to operate there. SpaceX has not accepted such a condition for any market in which it operates. This has nothing to do with Russia or China.

  5. Why does the US fuck with Elon; he as a private non-elected figure has no right to determine what’s best for our country…private citizens who weren’t selected to represent a population acting in an uncoordinated manner for what they perceive to be what’s in either their best interests, the nations best interests, or the world’s best interests is fucking insane.

  6. Elon is allowed to pollute orbit with his toys while deciding who gets to play with him.

  7. How dependent are Musk’s businesses, like Tesla, on Taiwan’s advanced chips? Does Taiwan have any leverage on Musk?

  8. Doesn’t matter if Taiwan requires local ownership by majority joint ventures. Mr. Musk wholly owns or doesn’t play.

  9. As a natural born american citizen living on the poverty line I am far less likely to run afoul of laws regarding international politics but I still understood that if you get a call from Putin you call the FBI immediately in elementary school.

Every single American citizen who has spoken to Putin without the US government’s knowledge should spend the rest of their days in ADX Florence.

  10. Finally they are looking at Elon I have hated this guy for years he is truly one of the enemies from within Trump just has the names wrong.

  11. Said it before, I’ll say it again. Musk is a traitor to the USA. Fraternising with an enemy and rival and working against it’s US national interests!
