On behalf of Sierra Club Maine, I am writing in support of our Sen. Angus King. Once-Gov. King, now-Sen. King has been a long-time environmental leader and we are proud to endorse him once again for reelection this year.

During his most recent term, King championed the Inflation Reduction Act, groundbreaking legislation that is helping to lower energy costs for households across Maine. At a time when many families are struggling with rising utility bills, this law provides relief by incentivizing clean energy investments and making energy efficiency more affordable for all. By helping homeowners transition to renewable energy sources, the senator is not only addressing immediate financial burdens, but also paving the way for a more sustainable and resilient energy future.

Further, Sen. King’s work as chair of the Subcommittee on National Parks is another example of his unwavering commitment to protecting our natural resources. He has consistently fought to preserve the beauty and environmental integrity of places like Acadia National Park to ensure future generations can enjoy all our natural environment has to offer. His efforts have helped ensure that our national parks remain protected for recreation, conservation, and education for years to come.

King’s long record of advocacy for energy affordability and environmental stewardship speaks for itself. We believe his continued leadership is essential to ensuring a brighter, more sustainable future for both Maine and the nation.
