I thought in swiss german the Eszett (ß) was not used anymore. I always double read my mails looking for one that might have slipped in and the official twitter profiles of the confederation use it so nonchalantly? What is the rule?

  1. An EU *Praktikant* probably who studied German, without feeling the need to go through the process of immersing themselves into Swiss culture, because they will be *boss* anyway anytime soon now 😉

  2. Either (1) they used a new computer with autocorrect set to German (Germany) not German (Switzerland) and the person didn’t notice, or (2) the post was originally written in French or Italian and automatically translated into German by someone whose German isn’t great
