Hallo everyone!

I‘m learning German and I‘m pretty hyped of understanding a little bit more than the basics! (B1-B2)
Recently I took as a present a Kindle, so I started the trial subscription in amazon kindle unlimited.

Can anyone please recommend me some books to study ?
General I like to read classics, I have read in the past Viktor Hugo, George Orwell, Kafka and Nietzsche. I really enjoyed books from these authors!!!
I haven‘t read any other category like fantasy, romance etc
I looking for books which are not so complicated, not only in the vocabulary but also in Strukturen. I looking something like more to teenagers(?)
I tried Kafka – Die Verwandlung but in a comic novel and it was unpossible to read it…

Now I have the subscription and I don‘t know where to start. I know that I can‘t read classics because it‘s way too difficult but can someone please recommend something?
I want really much to boost my German skills!

  1. If you want to give Fantasy a try, then I think Harry Potter is pretty nice.
I guess it shouldn’t be too hard but is still interesting and builds up a unique world!

  2. Try the Babylon Berlin books, they even made a (decent) TV Series about it. Really like the Noir take. First book is „Der nasse Fisch“.

  3. Those are fairly advanced books for your level. If the book is too advanced for your level then it will very much limit your ability to learn. I would suggest looking for books awarded Jugendliteraturpreis that were originally written in German.

At this level some good books are: Gertrude Grenzenlos, Verraten, Dunkel Nacht, Er Ist Wieder Da (slightly more advanced), and books by Erik Kästner.

Also keep in mind that older books, like Kästner and even more so Kaftka, will use words that are less common today. The same applies to translations in general.
