  1. As much as I’d love to see Daylight savings scrapped in Ireland, we can’t unless the North does too.

And as soon as we express a desire to scrap it, it’ll become a political issue in the North and you’ll have people marching to keep the “kings time”.

  2. I would prefer to have summer time all year. I don’t care if it’s dark when I’m commuting at the morning, I want to have light when I leave work and have free time

  3. Gotta be honest, I don’t really understand why so many people are against DST. I neve had issues with it, and the switch is always made between Saturday and Sunday so most people won’t be bothered if they wake up one hour earlier or later on a weekend

  4. We should finally cancel this nonsense.
It is outdated and as a wise man once said:
Only the government would believe that you could cut a foot off the top of a blanket, sew it to the bottom, and have a longer blanket.

  5. I prefer 12:00 to be actually at noon. It should be the businesses that adjust their opening hours, not the other way round.

  6. The problem is there’s just to little daylight in winter here Northern Europe. DST cant change that of course. It might make sense further south.

  7. I don’t care which time is chosen as long as we stay on the same time zone with Germany since they are our largest ecomomic partner.

  8. I don’t know if adjusting to the C option would be a good idea. Sure, it would put the countries in their “correct” time zones, but these days the areas affected are so interconnected it would be a major hassle to have, say, Aachen in a different time zone from Maastricht, or Strasbourg an hour from Freiburg. And that’s not even mentioning the Basel area. The UK can have their own time zone since they love being different anyway, but plopping a time zone border straight through the heart of the EU sounds like more trouble than it’s worth.

Also, while moving Greece into the green area makes sense jusr looking at a map, all their major population centers face the aegean, not the adriatic. There’s a reason they are in blue IRL.

  9. Interesting that most of Europe is the same as what is essentially German time.

    Opens a history book…

    Oh no.

  10. Ok, I’m from Lithuania, and I want summer time year-round.

In the morning commute it’s still dark either way.

In the evening commute it’s already dark.

But during the weekend I would like to have longer light hours in the evenings to enjoy the day.

Unfortunately, but we can’t have summer time year-round here, because we would live “under Moscow’s time” and hell will freeze before we Lithuanians agree on such nonsense.

  11. As a spaniard I hate timezones with actual passion. The problems we have with walking Up at european times to get to bed at natural times are messing Up with our health a lot. PROBLEM no one is fully understanding how problematic this is.

  12. C would be the best option. B is stupid, A could be acceptable, but people in France and more west would have it pretty bad.
Most importantly, absolutely NO DST. It is the dumbest thing humanity has ever created. Pure stupidity. Get rid of it. Yesterday was too late.

  13. I don’t care as long as it isn’t night at 18:00. Just put the summer time all year long and be done with it

  14. Can we finally stop this nonsense change? One more time for everybody to land in desired zone, and that’s it.

We were that close from it before Flu19, but for no apparent reason it just disapeared from agenda.

  15. Thanks (no) to the Germans for changing the time of France in 1941 and for no longer being aligned with London time

  16. An idea. Drop timezones all together and use UTC? What is difference when (at what hour) sun comes up? In one country it will be 4 and in another let’s say 8. Working/school hours would be adjusted per country. No useless timezone conversion.

Downside is that when you change country you won’t know when sun comes up/down. But let’s be serious – how much time people spend abroad for vacations?
