Finnish paperboard manufacturer Metsä Board will start negotiations on temporary layoffs in paperboard and BCTMP in Finland. The negotiations will cover a total of 1,100 employees at the mills in Joutseno, Kaskinen, Kemi, Kyro, Tampere, Simpele and Äänekoski.

The layoffs will last a maximum of 90 days and may take place in several rounds during 2025. The negotiations will start in week 46 and are expected to last two weeks.

The layoffs are part of the company’s preparations to temporarily adjust production for low delivery volumes in case the demand situation does not improve in 2025. The exact layoffs will be specified during 2025.
