The newspapers are claiming that Camilla laughing at Samoa dancers is a sign of her wicked sense of humour. I think it is a clear sign of disrespect. Just like her and Charles laughing at the indigenous throat singers.
The calls for respect go one way. Everyone is supposed to be polite and respectful to Charles and Camilla, including indigenous people. But Charles and Camilla can be as disrespectful towards indigenous people as they like and no one says anything.
However much the media and royalists defend this disrespect, others see this and will not forget this terrible behaviour.

  1. Absolutely. She is so juvenile when it comes to other cultures. Judging by these behavious, including holding a little black girl’s arm by her sleeve, I’m actually of the belief that it was she who was involved in the discussion expressing concerns about what Archie’s skin colour would be.

  2. OP, did you even read this article? I am so confused, I read the article and it is glowing positive review. Where is negative notion. Maybe you could link other articles where it has been said?

  3. Agreed. Same as that one time that Camila just walked past indigenous singers performing for them at some church event and she couldn’t be bothered to listen to them, and the media spun it as “it was windy”.

It’s such a mockery of indigenous people and their cultures, who are PERFORMING FOR THEM.

And I love what you said OP, that’s a really great point – that everyone is supposed to be polite to THEM but they can be rude and disrespectful and I guess people just need to accept that?

Downvote me all you want, but the fact that this rude, racist, opportunistic woman has been sanewashed by the royalist media is so gross.

  4. I don’t think it’s very gracious but I don’t think it’s racism. She is also often in fits of laughter at the activities going on at Braemar too (largely white Scottish people doing traditional sports and dances). Impolite and ungracious but I don’t think worse than that.

  5. She does this a lot. In all fairness we laugh at her too, a lot to find funny. Im American, but there was an Australian headline that was like “horse face to England’s grandma.

  6. The absolute worst is when people try to retcon the behaviour as acceptable. Like with the throat singers they pretend she was actually just doing what she was supposed to – completely ignoring Native voices saying it wasn’t okay and completely ignoring that not a single other dignitary there (including the Native ones) were doing anything like that.

  7. That shows that their attitude is racist if true. They aren’t just laughing because they think it’s funny, they are laughing because they look down upon those people and their traditions.

  8. Racists gonna racist. She did the same thing to the black preacher at Harry and Meghan’s wedding.
