A number of these children will be reported missing from care. Once a young person doesn’t return to there residential before there curfew the staff have to follow protocol and report these to the Garda. Majority of the time they return back to family members for a night or couple days, some times with friends and in other situations you don’t want to even imagine. I’m sticking up for TUSLA in the slightest but the vast majority of these reports, the young person is safe. It doesn’t mean that ever missing from care report shouldn’t be taken seriously

>It said it was “important to note” that where a child is absent from their residential care placement for more than 15 minutes, they can be reported as “missing” from care.
>“This could be for a range of reasons, such as missing their curfew or not returning to their placement at an agreed time.
>“Three of these six young people remained in contact with the services whilst absent, and three of these young people were not in contact as of 10th October.”
So of the 37, 31 were asylum seekers over the age or 16, who told Tusla they would be leaving.
And of the other 6, 3 were “missing” but tusla knew where they were.

Surely this figure isn’t accurate considering Tusla’s protocols?
There was a case of one being found in a brothel. This gets far too little airtime
No panic, we are beating records year on year now in Ireland, from homelessness to debt ratios!
We can beat these weak numbers if we try a bit harder!
Having seen the missing photo of the 35yr old 16yr old recently, I don’t think there is a cause for panic without more investigation
